Which presidential candidate is better from a biblical/Christian point of view, Obama or McCain? Please answer frankly.
Jesus is not primarily concerned about politics. He confronted leaders and ordinary folk in the same way. Jesus is concerned about spiritual/moral issues. Your place is to listen to what politicians say and see which person is most god-like. Here are the primary issues based on Ephesians 4:17-5:7:
1. Do not lie! Misrepresenting the truth is lying.
2. Do not steal! Work so you can give!
3. Do not be greedy!
4. Don't have even a hint of sexual immorality.
5. Have no obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking.
6. Do not be associates with evil people.
7. Do not be bitter and full of rage.

What are some Bible stories about renewing the mind?
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

This is oversimplified, but gives the main idea.

God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are different parts of the Godhead or Trinity. They have the same mind and purpose, but different functions. When was God born?
He was not born. He is eternal...without beginning or end. Because we live in time, it is difficult to understand the idea of eternity.
There are 2 ways we know God exists:
1. His creation
"
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."
(Romans 1:20)
2. His Word
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
(John 1:14) Read John 1:1-14.
"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe."

I have to speak about Jacob wrestling with god to youth and don't know how to bring it across successfully.
This is an interesting story from Genesis 32.
Jacob was not the man he should have been. He had not treated his brother Esau right and was on his way to meet him. The text says a man wrestled with Jacob all night. When this man saw he could not win he caused a limp in Jacobs walk.
The man blessed Jacob and changed his name to Israel (you have struggled with God and men and have overcome). The Bible does not tell us what all this means, but this event changed Israel from a devious man to a faithful man.
From Israel's statement in 32:30 "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared." we know Israel thought he had wrestled with God.

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'"
(John 8:12)
We have to have an example in order to follow.
"Jesus called them and said, 'You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. Is there a verse about afraid in the bible?
We are to fear God. This is not dread, it is to be in awe of the power and judgment of God...and His great love, mercy and grace.
"For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, 'Abba, Father.' The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children."

Daniel's dreams and Kids dreams are not the same issue. Daniel's dreams were prophetic visions. God does not speak to us in prophetic visions. Everything we need to know is in the revealed Word.

Hello, my child attends a Christian school and she came home last week telling me that her teacher said there is no tooth fairy, Santa or Easter bunny. I understand as Christians we should not believe in them but I think there could have been a better way to break it down to 5 year olds. Do you think you can help me explain to my child "it's all about Jesus"? Thanks.
This is a difficult situation. Unfortunately, all these tales are not "all about Jesus". Somewhere back in history folk-stories and legends were adapted to Christianity...and Christians went along with the fantasy even when they knew they were not about Jesus. I do not know how to deal with this except to explain the situation, apologize and tell your children they are just fun, made up stories.

I would like some ideas for living the Christian life using Rom. 12 & 13.
We have not yet developed material for the book of Romans.
This is in the context of sacrificing our lives and being transformed. This transformation is not something we do, it is something we submit to.
"But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

Hello. I would like some ideas for children's work involving faith. Hebrews 11 vs 1-6.
These verses are an introduction to the rest of the chapter. There are two points to emphasize.
1. 11:3...by faith we believe God created the world.
2. 11:6...without faith it is impossible to please God.
Another verse is Romans 10:17...faith comes by hearing what God has to say.
Remember, God does not expect us to have blind faith. He gives us plenty of evidence to believe.

Unknown

We do not have skits at this time. Our emphasis is the actual text, and normally the text is better than we could provide.

Why when u read the bible, kids like 10-11 year olds cannot understand as fast as adults can understand?
At times adults do not understand very well. The best thing for kids at this level to do is learn the stories of the Bible like Adam & Eve, Noah, etc. It is okay if you do not understand all the story, wait until you are older. Then you will understand.

Ezekiel
How do the children
blble translate the bible?
All children's bible are not translations from the original text, they are interpretations.
If you are asking how do children translate the Bible the answer is simple. Young children do not translate, the just read. This is why it is very important check any interpretation against a reliable translation.

Noah
Did God create Adam and Eve as adult or did they pass thru child growth as any other child?
Adam and Eve were created as adults.
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

(Genesis 1:27)

Sylvia
How do you teach children and young adults about how they can be a miracle to someone?
You can't. Miracles are events that cannot be explained by natural laws. Anything that comes from us can be explained through the power of God that works through us. People are not miracles, they are only servants. If you see what you think is a miracle, it is of either from God or Satan. (II Thessalonians 2:8-10)
If you are asking how we can be inspirations to others, this is a different issue. We do it by being faithful servants of God who stand for what we believe.

God is eternal. We as humans cannot understand the concept of no beginning and no ending. What we do is look at the world around us and understand it is the result of creation.

Not yet! Read the questions below.

Ricky
Where is heaven?
All we know for sure is that heaven is a spiritual place...not of this world.
"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words."
(I Thessalonians 4:16-18)
The apostle Paul talks of a place called the third heaven that cannot be described.
"I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows. And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows— was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell."
(II Corinthians 12:2-4)

Original sin
The original sin was when Satan rebelled against God. The original human sin was when Eve ate the fruit of tree of Knowledge (Genesis 3). There is the idea that because of the first sin, every person since Eve has been born guilty of sin. This belief understands that baptism is necessary for salvation, so all babies must be baptized.
This teaching is not true!
Salvation is based on belief. (John 3:16) A child does not have the ability to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. At the point of understanding, guilt becomes real and faith in Jesus leads to salvation.
It is true that baptism is necessary for salvation (I Peter 3:21), but all of us are guilty of our own sin, not the sin of another person.

How do I get peace?
Peace come through Jesus Christ.
Galatians 5:22- Peace is part of the fruit of the Spirit
Ephesians 2:14
"For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant."

The fact that the Gentiles (Acts 10) received the Holy Spirit before they were water baptized proves they were already saved before they were water baptized. This is a Bible truth. Thank you!
It sounds good, but let's check it out.
Peter explains what happened in Acts 11:15. What happened in chapter 10 was the same things that happened in Acts 2...the house of Cornelius received the gift of speaking in tongues. This happened before Peter told the story...Cornelius and his house had not yet heard the gospel. Then Peter said he could not appose God, so he baptized them in the name of Jesus Christ. (10:47) The same thing happened in Acts 2:37-38. Believers were not saved until they were baptized.

Can you commit a sin without knowing it?
Yes. Ignorance is no excuse! Read Ephesians 4:17-5:7.
If you can, how are u supposed to ask God for forgiveness for all the wrongs we don't know we are doing?
The key is being in the light...in Jesus!
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Dear Noah. Say if you where worrying to much that God wouldn't forgive you for all of your sins what would you do, and would he forgive you.

A friend of mine has a a mother and she's also a Christian and she said ''on the cross Jesus said that he will forgive all kids of what they have done until the age 12. Is that true?
No. Jesus forgave the sins of one of the thieves who died with him.
There is a difference between knowing something is wrong and knowing it is something that separates them from God. Children who do not know what sin is are not guilty. At some point children know their sins will cause them to be lost and Jesus is the only way they can be saved. At that point their sins cause them to be separated from God.

If you are a Christian will you go to heaven? How can you tell if you're going to heaven?
Faithful Christians will go to heaven.
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord', did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. I want to know about the Israelites.
The name of Jacob, the son of Isaac, was change to Israel after he wrestled with an God. Israel means "You have wrestles with God and men and prevailed". God promised Abraham, Israel's grandfather, that a great nation would come from his family. Israel's sons ended up in Egypt. Israel became a great nation, were delivered from Egypt and were given the Promised Land.
The story is told from the book of Exodus to the end of the Old Testament (Malachi)
Jesus was an Israelite.

I have been teaching the 4's and 5's in Sunday school. One 4 yr. was reduced to tears when we talked about Samson killing the lion. I felt so bad that I had done something to frighten her. Earlier in the term one little boy commented we shouldn't do that when telling about Joshua taking the Promised Land in battle. I explained to him why this was done through God, etc. and the next Sunday he acted blood thirsty, instead, and wanted to know if any people were killed in the next battle. I said, yes. Then he was happy and said , yaaaaay! I hope you see my problem. The Bible's violence is easier to explain to adults. I wonder if anyone has ever considered the way the Bible is taught to small children or if its updated in its choice of subject matter in relation to the age of the child. Have you ever taught Sunday school to a group of little ones? Probably not. It is usually women. I think some psychology is needed here to do a better job. What do you think? I am a mom and grandmother, but this has taken me aback and I feel unqualified.
I have taught small children. and I was taught the Bible stories when I was small. The reaction of your little student is not unusual...it is the nature of boys. Maybe the reaction of your little boy was because he is saturated by the violence in television, movies, video games, etc. If so, this is a parental problem. Your little girl is a sensitive soul.
Regardless of cultural circumstance, if we take all the violence and evil out of the Bible, we have not told the real story of the great love and judgment of God. How can we teach the most important story in the Bible without telling our children about the crucifixion of Jesus?
The Israelites were commanded to tell their children the historical facts.
It is interesting that Bible writers very seldom dwell on the violence. They state it simply and go on. The emphasis is on the reason for violence...anger, judgment, etc.

I need help with a bible story/activity that would be good to go along with sports for kids. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Paul uses the example of running and boxing. In the Olympics of his day, only the winner got the prize. All the faithful win the victory crown.
"I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air."
(I Corinthians 9:3:23-26)

Ken
Since i am the religion of Hinduism...why do you believe in this GOD?
There are many religions in the world that worship different gods. The challenge all of us face is: How do we know which god is the real God?
There is no god like the God of the Bible! The God of the Bible is loving, gracious and is involved in our lives. He is our creator and knows what is best for His creation. He protects us by telling us what to do and not do. He does not want any of us to be lost, and has provided a way for us to be saved and live with Him forever. This way is Jesus, the Son of God. Since the God of the Bible is loving, just and absolutely fair, those who are not in Jesus will be lost forever because of their lack of faith.
God does not expect us to have blind faith, so He has provided His word (the Bible).
Since Jesus is the primary focus of the Bible, proving Jesus was actually raised from the dead provides a solid basis for our faith.
Jesus is alive?
In a few weeks we will have an in-depth 12-part study of evidences that prove the Bible is true.

I am preparing visuals for 3rd graders on King David. Of course as a boy it refers to him as ruddy. In school we were taught that ruddy was usually an adjective used to describe complexion. David's description is found in I Samuel 16:12.
"He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features."

Uncle Noah, I am half Jewish and half Gentile. Am I required by God to follow the Mosaic Laws of the Old Testament ?
No.Jesus came to sacrifice his life for all of us. Race has nothing to do with salvation.
Timothy, a companion of the apostle Paul, had a Jewish mother and a Greek (Gentile) father. (Acts 16:1)
"...for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

Do animals have a soul? Do animals go to heaven? I am afraid I already know and understand what the bible states on this, but it is just to upsetting and devastating to believe. I am 27 and have never heard anything about this topic until last weekend. I felt like a little child that just found out there is no Santa or tooth fairy. Please help me to understand. thank you
Animals are a great blessing from God designed to show his power and nature...and to be a source of companionship, protection, food, shelter and clothing.
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."
(Romans 1:;20)
Animals are used by God to fulfill his purposes, but they have no soul. Animals were not created to understand matters of faith and obedience, so they do not sin. They have no choice. They act instinctively, not faithfully. Heaven is reserved for the family of God who have been saved from sin through their faith and obedience.

When I did something bad, does God forgive me again ?
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."
Notice...we must walk in the light and have contact with the blood of Jesus. I do not know how old you are, but you understand the need for forgiveness. Forgiveness comes when we are in Jesus.

Dave
John 3:16 talks of believing & salvation. Mark 16:16 talks of perishing when not believing. Why do you join baptism with belief in salvation? Respectfully, Dave.
The answer is the conversation with Nicodemus in John 3:1-15. Jesus tells Nicodemus that he had to be born again with water and the Spirit. In Acts 2:38, Peter tells believers to be baptized for the remission of sins and to receive the Spirit.
Mark 16:16 says: "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved." If a person does not believe, there is no desire to be baptized. According to Acts 2:38, we get forgiveness of sins at the point of baptism. In Acts 8:26-39 Philip taught the gospel to the Ethiopian. Baptism was obviously part of the gospel because the Ethiopian (a believer) asked to be baptized.

Romans 13:1-5 is a great study of the power of God over nations...and our relationship with good or bad governments. The story of Peter and John in Acts 4 shows us that we must do what is right regardless of what those in authority, but never with a rebellious spirit.

When Jesus comes back will there be a new earth like the one we live in now?
We will no longer live in a physical world. The second coming of Jesus is described in I Thessalonians 4:13-18. Verse 17 answers your question.
"After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

Do you believe that God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit? Or do you believe that we are to get our instruction solely from the word of God?
Both! The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the words written by the Bible writers. Truth is found in the words written.
