Why did Jesus die on the cross?
Sin separates us from God.
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

(Acts 4:12)
"But, God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!"
(Romans 5:8,9)
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

(Philippians 2:6-11)

Kayla
Why do people sin and forget about God?
Some do not want to serve God.
Some let spiritual weeds keep them from God. (II Peter 2:20)
Some just do not know God.
How do I be brave?
Build your faith through knowing the Word of God.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
(II Timothy 3:16,17)
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
(James 4:7)
Read Romans 8:28-39.

Brandon
How many years did Noah preach before the ark was built and where in the Bible does it talk about it.
Genesis 6:3...God gave the world 120 years to repent.
Genesis 6:9-10...God called Noah. He had three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.
Genesis11:10...2 years after the flood, Shem was 100 years old.
Noah and his family were in the ark 1 year and 10 days.
If Shem was alive when Noah was called, Noah preached no more than 97 years. If all three of Noah's sons were alive when God called Noah, he probably did not preach over 80-85 years.
Actually we know for sure is that Noah was a preacher of righteousness. (II Peter 2:5)

Who was Jesus?
"Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!"
(Philippians 2:5-8)
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
(John 3:16)

Dear Uncle Noah. "Irene Did Noah put fish on his ark? No! Only land animals were in the ark. (Genesis 7:14)" But what happened to the fresh water fishes? Did Noah bring them on board? Cause they would die in salt water and opposite, wouldn't they?
When Noah took the animals on the ark there was only one body of water. (Genesis 1:9) All the fish would be fresh water fish. How we have the difference between fresh water and salt water fish, I cannot tell you. But, since God created the fish, I suspect he build fresh and salt into their genes.

The Bible is not one book. It is a collection of 66 different books written over a period of about 1,500 years by different authors. Our Bible is translated from very careful copies of the original texts.

When god created the earth he created everything. why did he create satan if he knew that he was going to trick Adam and eve to eat the apple? if he knew it was going to happen why didn't he stop it?
I guess we will have to ask Jesus when we get to heaven.
"I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."

Why does God approve of murder of infants, children, women in the old testament? (example Joshua and Cannanites, David and Kenites) how can David be a man after Gods own heart when he murdered so many women and children? why does God approve of murder?
God does not murder anyone. God is the God of love...and justice. God had given all the people mentioned above plenty of time to repent of their wicked ways...and they refused.
There are several issues here:
1. Not every person who was killed was eternally condemned. (For instance: children who did not know better,)
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."
(Psalms 115:16)
2. If left in the basket, bad apples will ruin all the apples.
3. At some point, God just turns the wicked over to do all kinds of bad things...and they deserve death.
(Romans 1:18-32)

God created the universe is it scientific truth or theological truth?
This is not the proper question. The Question is: Is the Bible true? Since the Bible is absolutely true, God created the world and everything in it in 6 days.

The law of Forgiveness- do you have any color pages or activity pages on this?
The law of forgiveness is the gospel.
1. All men have sinned...which is darkness and death. (Romans 3:23; 6:23)
2. God is light and can have nothing to do with darkness. (John 9)
3. Jesus is the only light of the world. He came as a ransom for sin. (Acts 4:12)
4. Those who are in Christ are in the light. (Ephesians 4)

All of us must die...if the Lord does not come first. Sickness is not the issue. We honoring God in our life or our death.

But even if they don't turn to angels can we still talk to them, and can god give them wings and make them an angel? Is there anything in the bible that says they don't turn to angels?. I thought we go to heaven when we die and God gives us wings and there's no pain or anything and people feel better again.
We ask everyone to be Bereans, which means they are dedicated to searching the Bible to find out if what people say is true. (Acts 17:11) The Bible does not say we are given wings and go to heaven when we die. Only those who are in Jesus will be taken back to live with him...at the Judgment.

What is the difference between respect and honor from the Bible? Does one imply the other or not? How do these affect us with those over us in regards to obedience?
Romans 13 tells us plainly to submit to the ruling authorities. God sets up nations and brings down nations. We are not to rebel against authorities. (Study I Peter 2:13-17) We are to show respect to all and honor what God has established, but...obedience is something else:
"But Peter and John replied, 'Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.'"
(Acts 4:19-20)

If they are familiar with the Bible, our study of the book of John is an excellent study. The theme of the book is found in John 20:31:
"Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
Both studies have activities for self-testing.

If Jesus was a Jew then why are we Christian.

What Bible are you basing all of your information off of? Are you Christian, Catholic, Jehovah Witnesses etc...??? Are you getting all of this from a KJV (King James Version) Bible??? Because that is the kind of bible I read.
I am just a New Testament Christian, doing my best to follow the pattern of sound teaching given by the Spirit of God. I used the KJV for years. After investigating the basic pattern found in the American Standard and the New International Versions (NIV), I started using the NIV because it is much easier to  understand. The KJV is a reliable version of the Bible, but couched in archaic language.

Dennis
What are the first five books in the bible?
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. They are referred to as the Pentateuch.

Herb.
How many times a week should we meet to worship?
We are to worship our powerful, majestic, loving God every day. The New Testament church assembled on Sunday (the day Jesus was resurrected) to encourage each other.
"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one
another our of reverence for Christ."

(Ephesians 5:19-21)
Any other set time is good, but traditional and is not required.
The principle is:
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
(Hebrews 10:25)

Tyler
Tyler is 15 teen years old temporary living with his biological Mom have teen sex, mom knows and permits it. What does the bible say about this?
Unfortunately, biological Mom is mistaken. Sex, outside the marriage relationship is wrong and dangerous.
"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people."
(Ephesians5:3)
"Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body."
(I Corinthians 6:9)

My son is 13 and we have caught him on gay men sights. What would the best biblical approach to helping him work through this confusing time of his life?
Homosexuality is reserved for those who turn away from God, and God turns them over to all kinds of degrading acts. ((Romans 1:24-32)
It is in the company of some very bad things! (I Corinthians 6:9)
But, it can be overcome...and God will forgive.

I grew up in a church that offered The Lord's Supper every week. The church we attend now only offers it once a month. Should our family (my husband, myself and my child) have our own Lord's Supper in our home each week it is not offered at church. What are your thoughts?
The issue is not whether you and your family should have your own Lord's supper in your home. It is that you are attending a church that is no longer following the New Testament pattern for worship.
A feast to Remember
I would suggest it would be good for your family to privately evaluate the church you are attending through our study of the church. Remember this is a private family issue. Do not make this an issue until your are convinced from your study that it is Biblical to take the Lord's Supper weekly.
The Body of Jesus (The Church)
I also suggest you be Bereans...
"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."
(Acts 17:11)
Let me know how your study goes. At some point I will suggest other things to do.

Do animals go to heaven?
Animals are designed to glorify God in their creative design, function and beauty. They are useful as food, companionship, delight and service to man.
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."
(Romans 1:20)
They do not sin and do not have eternal souls, so they are useful in their death by providing more nutrition for other creatures and the soil.

I want a 3 minutes speech that talks about obedience for my kid.
We obey in things we do, not things we say.
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'"
(Matthew 7:21,22)
The first step in obedience is to be united with him in baptism.
Jesus, the Only Savior
The second step is to live in Jesus.

Do all women have to wear head coverings
The reference to this issue is I Corinthians 11.
In the Hebrew culture the man's head represented the glory of God and glory of a woman is her hair. The woman's hair is given as a covering. But, because of cultural issues, the woman should cover her head so as to not dishonors her husband.
Head covering is a cultural issue!

Where in the bible does it say that god will not give us more than we can cope with?
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
(I Corinthians 10:13)

Are you aware that the true Shabbat day is not on Sunday, never has been and it never will be. It was in fact the Roman Empire and the Universal Catholic Church back in 325 AD/CE that changed the true Shabbat Day, and it is the day of the L-rd. Even Yeshua/Jesus told us all to keep the Shabbat Day and he also stated that he is L-rd of the Shabbat. He rose from dead on the third day not on Sunday, but Saturday, and was crucified on the 14th of Nisan which was on a Wednesday over 2,000 years ago. Making Yeshua/Jesus the L-rd of the Shabbat. It starts at sunset Friday and ends at sunset Saturday. Are you also aware that there are (7) strict feast days to be kept forever and that one is coming up on the 8th of April 2009 and it is to be kept for 7 days of unleaven bread by everyone? Well it is, both the Jews and the Gentiles are to keep this day. May I suggest that you read Exodus 12:1-50. Thank you for your time.
The Mosaic law was for the Jews only. The Sabbath was part of the Mosaic Law...which was fulfilled in the sacrifice of Jesus. (Hebrews 8:13) Jesus was raised on the first day of the week (Sunday). You are right in saying Sunday is not the true Sabbath. The physical Sabbath no longer exists. Hebrews 4 talks about a spiritual rest for the people of God (Christians).
Why are you saying that the Old Covenant was set aside and done away with? For it was not. Yeshua/Jesus said not 1 yod or stroke would be removed from the law (torah) till all things thay were to be fulfilled what the prophets said were fulfilled. Are you aware that both the old and the new testament are one? Are you also ware that GOD has never done away with the Old Covenant and neither did Yeshua/Jesus? We were all saved from the curse of the law, however the law of the old Covenant is still in effect till this day. Please reread the Bible? For you are telling untruths to others on your website. I read more than one Complete Bible and I would suggest that you check out David H. Stern's Complete Jewish Bible! And I am pointing out biblical facts period. I would suggest that you go back and read scripture again, for it is in there. The old covenant will be held forever and Yeshua/Jesus ever said this too. Thank you for your time.
The key to  your premise is the word fulfilled. Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic law! (Hebrews 8) The Perfect sacrifice for sin (Jesus) made all other sacrifices obsolete. (Hebrews 10:18) Oops! Another part of the Mosaic Law is gone.
The Old and New Testament are not one. The New Testament is described as a will.(Hebrews 9:16) A will comes into affect when the person who wrote the will dies. Any other will (testament) is made void...and is no longer binding.
But, they are connected in the sense that the Old Testament is a shadow of the New, (Hebrews 10:1) and it is a teacher (Romans 15:4) that warns of things not to do. (I Corinthians 10:11)
Even after the Mosaic Law is fulfilled and made obsolete, you are right in saying the curse of the law is still with us. The curse is believing that anything other than the blood of Jesus can save us from our sins.

What  happens to us immediately after we die?
It is important to be in Christ. After we die there are only 2 options:
1. In Christ...Heaven
2. Not in Christ...Hell
What happens immediately is of no consequence. There is not changing the options.
Jesus said the thief would be with him in Paradise. It is unclear exactly what Paradise is, but it is a place where souls wait for judgment.
Those who do not believe go to a place of torment.

How long was the ship?
In the original language, Noah's ark was measured in cubits. The Hebrew cubit was 18 inches. Moses wrote the book of Genesis, and was educated in Egypt. The Egyptian cubit was  20.6 inches. Using the Egyptian cubit would make the ark 518 feet long.

If a person pretends to speak in tongues, are they doing right.
If you pretend, you are a hypocrite. A hypocrite is an actor, playing a part. So you are doing a lie.
There is a lot of misunderstanding about speaking in tongues.
The second issue you have is that unless you spoke a specific language without learning that language, you were not speaking in tongues.
Speaking in tongues had a specific purpose in the New Testament...and the purpose was fulfilled before the end of the first century.

God was not made, He is eternal...without beginning and without end. We humans cannot understand eternal. All we can do is look around us and see the world was designed. Design demands a designer.

Is the current economic crisis a punishment from God?
It is a fact that God could solve the problem now...if He chose to do so. At times he allows things to happen so that he can get our attention. God allowed the Israelites to be in slavery in Egypt for hundreds of  years before sending Moses to deliver them.
What is he trying to tell us?
God wants us to trust in Him...not money and things.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own

(Matthew 6:25-34)
We must work, and let God produce the fruit of our labor.
"He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need."
(Ephesians 4:28)

Was Charles Darwin a special or intelligent man? Should we learn about him?
Intelligence does not make a person important or special.
Charles Darwin started out as a preacher and turned against God. He was not really the father of evolution, but took credit for it. The only reason to learn about him is to show that knowing about God is not the same as knowing God.

Where did God come from?
It is difficult for humans to understand God had no beginning or end. He is a spirit. We can look at things around us and know that the world was designed. Something designed must have a designer.

Does it say anywhere in the bible that we will never be given more hardship, illness or problems than we can cope with.
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."

If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Romans 6:16-18 is a discussion of slavery, not prison. Freedom from prison depends on someone else. We choose our slavery.
"What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."

I'm 13 and my mommy and daddy are in heaven with my baby brother. I'm not a baby so don't just say what you want me to hear tell me the truth please. People say that my mommy and daddy are looking down on me from heaven and they are proud of me. Is that true or is it something that grown ups tell me so I'm not so sad? The bible says there aint no more tears in heaven so how can they see me if they cant cry cuz wont they be sad to be away from me and not be able to be with me? I don't know I'm just so confused.
We apologize for being so long responding to your email. This response is from my friend Uncle Gary.
I am so sorry to hear that your Mommy, Dad and little brother have died. This is surely a huge thing for a 13 year old to grasp. You asked a very valid and intelligent question about what we actually know from the Bible about those who are dead. I have listed a few passages and after you read them note the observations that we can draw from the scriptures.
Passages to read:
Mathew 23:43

Luke 16:19-31
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
Observations:
1.Those who have died are with the Lord and they have awareness of where they are.
2.Lazarus and the rich man knew where they were and who they were. Also, the rich man had a clear memory of his brothers still on earth.
3.There is no suggestion however that they can see the ongoing activities on earth.
You are right there are no tears in heaven and that would be hard to be true if those in heaven have to see all the problems on earth. However, that your Dad still knows you, loves you and wishes the best for you is a reasonable belief.
Keep studying the Bible and live your life for Jesus.

(Philippians 2:5-8)

(John 14:10)
Who is all of God's people?
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'

Why do you have to belong to particular religion to believe in god and do gods work, why cant you just be called a believer instead of catholic, christian, muslim, etc...
The key issue here is whether the Bible is true!
"
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven (Jesus) given to men by which we must be saved."
(Acts 4:12)
Since the Bible is true...we do what Jesus tells us.
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
(Matthew 7:21)
There is only one church!
One Way!
Those who believe, repent and are baptized are added to the Lord's church.
"And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
(Acts 2:47b)
"Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
(Romans 6:3.4)

There are many churches teaching things that are not in the bible. We must check what is taught in a church.
"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."
(Acts 17:11)
'But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!"

or the roman Catholic! I just want to question them with regards to the Virgin Mary they are praying because she is not a virgin cause she actually had siblings after Jesus? I'm just being curious to ask you?
I do not know why anyone would deny the plain statements of the Bible.
"Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"
(Matthew 13:55,56)
Honoring Mary is one thing. Worshiping Mary is another things. The Bible plainly teaches that worshiping a man (or woman) is a foolish thing. (Romans 1:22,23)
I guess the best thing is to ask a Catholic teacher.
If there is eternal death, why then God created men?
