Righteous or
Righteousness
1) Being right is not
the same as being righteous! We can do good things with bad motives.
2) Since we are created in the image of God, we have the ability to
understand what is right and wrong. Righteousness literally means to
be right or just...having the characteristics of God.
3) Righteousness is both what we do and what we do not do.
4) As children of God, we are given the righteousness of God.
"The words 'it was credited to him' were written
not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit
righteousness- for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord
from the dead. (Romans 4:23,24)
5) The way we learn to be right is to study the Bible...especially the
New Testament. The standard for righteousness is higher in the New
Testament.
Matthew 5:43
Matthew 6:2-4
Matthew 6:25-34
Matthew 7:21-36
Galatians 5:19-26
