Statement of Faith
1. The Holy Spirit directed the Bible writers to write precisely
what needed to be said.
Our purpose is to teach the Bible with as little commentary as
possible. The power is in the Word, not talking about the Word.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that
the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
(II Timothy 3:16,17)
2. God created the
world in 6 days.
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and
certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were
commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at
God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was
visible."
(Hebrews 11:1)
3. Jesus is the only
savior.
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is
no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
(Acts 4:12)
4. There is only one
church...it is the body of Christ.
Not every church that claims to be Christian is Christian. The New
Testament provides a pattern so we can identify the church.
"Just as each of us has one body with many
members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in
Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all
the others."
(Romans 12:4,5)
5. Water baptism is
the point where we are added to the church (body).
"...and this water symbolizes baptism that now
saves you also— not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge
of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of
Jesus Christ..."
(I Peter 3:21)
6. We are saved by
grace, based on our obedience.
"This righteousness from God comes through faith
in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
(Romans 3:22-24)
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my
Father who is in heaven."
(Matthew 7:21) |
